If you’re searching for simple, kid-approved snacks, this Instant Pot applesauce is a winner. With just four ingredients and about 20 minutes from start to finish, it’s an easy homemade applesauce that children and adults both enjoy. The Instant Pot quickly softens the apples and lets them absorb the cinnamon and lemon juice. After cooking, blend to your preferred texture—smooth or chunky—and serve warm or chilled. This straightforward recipe is a great introduction to making applesauce at home and makes enough to share (or to keep handy for snacks throughout the week).

Ingredients
- 6 to 8 apples medium, we recommend a combination of Granny Smith and Gala
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon optional
Instructions
-
Peel and cut apples into roughly 2-inch chunks. Add the apples, water, lemon juice and cinnamon (if using) to the Instant Pot.
-
Secure the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Select Manual (High Pressure) and set the timer for 8 minutes. The pot will take a few minutes to come to pressure before the cook time begins.
-
When the timer finishes, let the pressure rest for 2–3 minutes, then carefully switch the valve to venting to release remaining steam. Open the lid once pressure has released.
-
If there is excess liquid, drain a little. Transfer the cooked apples to a blender, food processor or use an immersion blender and pulse on low until you reach your preferred consistency—smooth or chunky. Let cool slightly before serving or store in the refrigerator.
