Fourth of July Celebration Ideas & Festive Ways to Celebrate

Happy 4th to everyone celebrating, and a belated Canada Day to those who recently observed it.

I shared a post a few days ago with 15 red, white, and blue recipes that are perfect for patriotic gatherings.

Today I don’t have anything dramatic to share — I’m not hosting a party or preparing more red, white, and blue treats right now.

That said, if you wanted a quick red dessert, try making Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies and add a few drops of red food coloring to the dough before baking. They’re practically red already, foolproof, and incredibly easy to make.

For a fun twist, add a couple drops of red and blue food coloring to the batter and gently swirl for tie-dyed cupcakes — then stuff them with any candy you have on hand. You do have candy on hand, right?

How are you celebrating the holiday? Fireworks, family time, or a low-key evening?

We’re keeping things simple — standing on our balcony and hoping to catch a few fireworks displays around San Diego. No crowds or parking hassles for us this year.

The busiest places I’m willing to brave are Trader Joe’s and the grocery store. I misjudged my produce timing and need to restock almost everything, so I’ll be making a quick trip while they’re open.

I also have a great follow-up (giveaway alert!) to my Homemade Peanut Butter post. That will be part two and I’m saving it for a non-holiday day — back to regular posting tomorrow.

For now: a run. It’s about 65°F, cool, overcast, and windy here — perfect tailgating, not firework, weather.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
